SOMERS, Wis. – Parkside women's basketball dropped its Military Appreciation Game against Missouri-St. Louis Saturday afternoon at DeSimone, as the visiting Tritons came away with a 77-63 win.

It was a tight ball game throughout the first half, as the Rangers and Tritons were tied up 18-18 at the end of the first quarter and UMSL took a 39-35 lead into the break. Parkside led early on, but a quick 7-0 run by UMSL gave the visitors a six-point lead with 3:36 to play in the first. In the final 1:00 of the first quarter,
Ali Bettencourt went 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. With the game tied at 28-28,
Carolina Rahkonen nailed a triple with 4:48 until the half to put the Rangers up three, but after a couple of UMSL buckets the Tritons took the lead back and never lost it.
The Green & White did cut the lead to two points at the end of the third quarter, but UMSL pushed it back to double-digits in the fourth quarter and didn't look back.
Rahkonen led the way for the Rangers with 18 points, 11 of which came in the second half.
Hayley Maystead finished with 13 points and four assists while Bettencourt chipped in 10 points.
Aina Cabrero finished with a career-high seven points off the bench.
The Rangers will hit the road for two straight weeks, first heading to battle Quincy on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 5:30 p.m.
