Box Score 2 SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Parkside softball took advantage of the updated schedule this weekend, opening the four-game road trip with a pair of wins Saturday afternoon. The Rangers, who saw their original weekend plans canceled, defeated Drury 6-4 in the first game and took down Arkansas-Monticello 3-1 in game two.

In game one, Parkside jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning off a
Kellie Fenza RBI single and an
Adrien Hall bunt that scored Fenza. Drury came back to tie it up with a run in each the first and second inning, but Parkside responded with a run in the fourth inning off a
Jessica Shields RBI single to score
Samantha Newtoff.
The Panthers came back to grab a 4-3 lead with a two-run bottom of the fourth inning, but once again Parkside responded, this time with a two-run fifth inning off a Hall RBI double and a
Madison Manders sacrifice fly. The Rangers added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning off a first and third situation where Hall came in to score.
Three Rangers went 2-for-4 in game one, including Shields,
Megan Aliverti and
Danielle Crockett. Hall finished 1-for-2 with a pair of runs and two RBI. Parkside finished with four stolen bases.
Game two was more of a pitching duel, with
Alyssa Hrncar throwing a complete game allowing just one run on six hits with two strikeouts. Arkansas-Monticello pushed one run across in the fifth inning, but Parkside scored two in the third and one in the fifth. In the third, Hall drove in both runs off a two-run double to center field, which scored Shields and Aliverti. The Rangers added their third run in the top of the fifth off a passed ball.
Newtoff with 2-for-3 with a run and a triple while Shields went 2-for-4 with a run. The Rangers added three more stolen bases in game two, including two by Shields.
The Rangers will face Ouachita Baptist twice on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. and noon on Drury's campus.
