Maystead finished with her first double-double of the season, going for 18 points and 14 rebounds while going perfect from beyond the arc (4-for-4).
Ali Bettencourt led the team in scoring however, going for 21 points and a trio of assists while going 6-for-7 from the free-throw line.
Parkside's defense was tough all night long, as the team held the Prairie Stars to just 26.3-percent shooting and 4-of-21 from beyond the arc. The Rangers held UIS to just six points in the first quarter after UIS hit their opening shot. With 3:35 to play until the half, Maystead hit one of her four triples to give the Rangers at 14-point advantage, their largest of the game. UIS clawed back, making it a 26-17 point Ranger lead at the break. The Prairie Stars dropped the deficit down to five on multiple occasions in the third quarter, but Parkside held on to its lead the rest of the way to preserve the win. The Green & White scored its last six points at the line and never let UIS back in the game in the final minutes.
As a team, the Rangers shot 38.5-percent from the floor, but were extremely efficient from 3-point land, going 9-for-18 as four Rangers hit three's in the game.
Parkside will host UMSL on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. for Military Appreciation Day. Anyone who shows a Military ID will gain free admission to DeSimone Gymnasium.
