NORTHERN MICHIGAN 77, PARKSIDE 67
Parkside men's basketball couldn't recover from a tough first half on the road at Northern Michigan Saturday afternoon, as the Wildcats took a 40-18 lead into halftime and held the Rangers off in the end.
Adam Bonk was on fire, going for a season-high 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting and 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. Head coach
Luke Reigel is still one win away from becoming Parkside's all-time wins leader in men's basketball.Â
HEAR FROM COACH REIGEL
"From start to finish, Northern Michigan was the better team today," head coach
Luke Reigel said. We need to look at the things they did to us and get better in those areas before our next game."
Â
FIRST HALF
It took Parkside nearly 4:00 into the game to score, as Northern Michigan went up 8-0 in the opening minutes. NMU had a 9-0 midway through the half and a 15-0 run from 6:06 to 3:32 that included five straight 3-point field goals by the Wildcats. NMU led 40-18 at halftime after leading by as many as 24 and held the Rangers to just two points in the final 6:00.
Â
SECOND HALF
The Rangers battled back in the second half, outscoring the Wildcats 49-37, but the lead was too large to overcome. Parkside made it interesting with an 8-0 run with just over 7:00 to play in the game, but the Wildcats kept their lead over double-digits the rest of the way.
Â
WHO LED THE WAY
Adam Bonk, who finished second in the nation last year in 3-point field goal percentage, went 5-of-6 from beyond the arc and finished with 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting. This is the fifth game this season that Bonk has hit multiple 3-pointers.

WHAT'S NEXT
GLIAC play resumes on Jan. 3 as the Rangers host Northwood, but Parkside will head down to Fort Smith, Ark., for a pair of games against Rogers State and Arkansas-Fort Smith on December 18 and 19.
