OHIO DOMINICAN 84, PARKSIDE 69
It was a close game throughout for Parkside men's basketball, but Ohio Dominican ultimately pulled away in the end for a double-digit win. It was a three-point ODU advantage at the 10:00 mark in the second half, but the Panthers kept extending their lead down the stretch. Three Rangers finished in double-figures while
Brandon Hau had his second straight game with 10 rebounds.
Â
HEAR FROM COACH REIGELÂ
"There is no question we are a work in progress. Â We look good in spurts but lack consistency and that is pretty typical for a young team."
"IÂ like the fight we have shown in both games. Â As long as we continue to compete and learn from our mistakes we have the potential to be a good team."
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first half, the teams went back-and-forth trading leads in the first 5:00 minutes and kept that up the rest of the half. A layup inside at the 1:52 mark of the first half gave the Rangers a 31-30 lead, but a quick 5-0 run by ODU helped them to a 35-33 lead at the half. Both teams shot exactly 50-percent in the first half.
Â
In the second half, Parkside was never able to grab the lead back from ODU, but had plenty of chances to tie the game. The last time the Rangers had a chance to tie the game was at the 8:55 mark after a
D'Aaron Owens layup, but ODU followed that with a 7-0 run and didn't let the Green & White come closer than that.
Â
WHO LED THE WAY
Owens led Parkside 18 points and also dished out three assists.
Joey St. Pierre added 15 points and five rebounds on 7-of-10 shooting while
Adam Bonk finished with 10 points.
Brandon Trimble had eight off the bench and
Brandon Hau had a game-high 10 rebounds.
Â
