Black Hills State entered the game with a 3-0 record after making it to the NCAA Tournament in its 2017-18 season. Although the Rangers struck first, the Yellow Jackets took the lead back and were able to keep the lead throughout the rest of the game. The Rangers scoring was led by junior
Carolina Rahkonen and senior
Asiah Lawson, who both had 12 points apiece.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Rahkonen put the Rangers on the board first with a 3-pointer in the first minute of play followed by a 7-0 run for the Yellow Jackets. As the second quarter got underway, the scoring was back-and-forth until the Yellow Jackets went on a 9-0 run going into halftime. A quick 5-0 run started the third quarter for Black Hills State, which was ended by a 3-pointer from senior
Georgie Eishold. Scoring went even at 20-20 in the third quarter, as the Rangers couldn't cut into the deficit. Early in the fourth quarter, the Yellow Jackets had a 12-0 run, growing the gap between themselves and the Rangers. As the final whistle blew, the Rangers deficit was at 19 points, as Black Hills continued their four-game undefeated streak to open the season.

Rahkonen and Lawson led the Rangers with 12 points apiece, followed closely by redshirt-senior
