The Rangers fell to Southwest Minnesota State despite graduate student
Ali Bettencourt's first career double-double; She finished with a team-high 25 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. The Rangers tied it at 78-78 with 4:27 to play, but the Mustangs took the lead back and iced the game away at the free-throw line.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mustangs started the first quarter with a 5-0 run that ended with a jumper by Bettencourt. The Rangers took a two-point lead at the end of the first quarter, and both teams went back-and-forth to start the second half. The Mustangs went on a 7-0 run in the middle of the second quarter although the Rangers closed the deficit to three-points as the whistle blew at the half. Â
The third quarter was very close, with neither team going on a run of more than three points, which ended with Parkside up one point going into the final quarter. SMSU went on an 8-0 run to start the fourth quarter which ended with a layup from redshirt-junior
Taylor Stephen. The Rangers were able to tie the game at 78-78 with 4:27 remaining in the game. The Mustangs went on a 10-0 run to end the fourth quarter, ended by 3-pointer from senior
Asiah Lawson, with three-seconds left on the clock, but it was too-little too-late.Â

Carolina Rahkonen who had 15 points on the night and Stephen who had 13. Bettencourt and Rahkonen led the Rangers in rebounds with Bettencourt earning 11 total and Rahkonen with six. Stephen led with four assists, closely behind was redshirt-senior
Blair Arthur and senior
Georgie Eishold with three apiece.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Rangers will round out the weekend with a game against Black Hills State, tomorrow, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. Parkside will return to DeSimone Gymnasium for its GLIAC home opener against Grand Valley State on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m.
