Men's Basketball Throttles Clarke 97-59 in Season-Opener

Four Rangers finished in double-figures.

PARKSIDE 97, CLARKE 59
The Rangers are off to a 1-0 start in the 2018-19 season with the win over Clarke at DeSimone Gymnasium Thursday night. Four Rangers finished in double-figures, including junior Jonathan Morrobel who led the way with 15. Parkside outrebounded the Pride 41-28 and won the assist battle 24-10. 16th year head coach Luke Reigel is now three wins away from becoming the school's all-time leader in coaching wins.

WHAT COACH REIGEL HAD TO SAY
"Tonight was a nice icebreaker for a lot of our players on our roster," Reigel said. "I liked the way we shared the ball, that has been a staple of our program for quite a while.
"Defensively we played with nice energy but we are going to have to get better fundamentally by next week," Reigel added.

ALL RANGERS, ALL DAY
The Green & White never trailed in this one and pushed their lead to double-digits at the 11:32 mark on a Morrobel layup; they never let the Pride within 13 after that. An Adam Bonk 3-pointer late in the second half capped off the scoring for Parkside, as they went into the locker room with a 52-30 advantage. In the first half, Parkside connected on six 3-pointers and shot 54.3-percent.

In the second half, Joey St. Pierre pushed the Ranger lead to 26 with a layup followed by a dunk at 17:52, his second dunk of the game. Parkside kept on the Pride, pushing the lead to 30 points with 14:00 left and 40 points at the 5:33 mark in the second half. In the second half only, the Rangers shot 55.6-percent while holding Clarke to 37.9-percent.

STAT LEADERS
Morrobel (15) led four Rangers in double-figures along with Chavares Flanigan (13), Bonk (13) and St. Pierre (10). Flanigan led the team on the glass with seven rebounds while St. Pierre had six along with five blocks. Bonk had a team-high five assists while D'Aaron Owens had four steals.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Rangers will head to the tough Hillsdale Classic next week, taking on the host Chargers on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. (CT). They will also take on Ohio Dominican on Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m.
