Parkside 2, Northwood 1
HEAR FROM COACH ZITZKE
"It was a tale of two halves today," head coach
Jason Zitzke said. "In the first half, they came out all over us with more energy and they were winning tackles. We were struggling to match that."
"We came off the field at half with our heads down and we had to tell ourselves to just play how we have for the most of the season thus far," Zitzke added. "The second half, we brought the energy from the guys who started to those who came off the bench. We were flying around, going to goal and being dangerous and we tied the game up right away."
"We kept fighting until the last whistle, and
Leki Prpa was able to put it away in the final minutes," Zitzke continued. "It was one of our first come-from-behind results this year and I'm proud of how the guys played at the end."
"I have to add two things:
Juan Gonzalez was unbelievable in net today, taking away three shots for Northwood that should've been goals" Zitzke said. "And,
Brandon Henderson's work rate held the team together defensively today," Zitzke concluded.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Northwood controlled the first half of play, with a goal in the 35th minute off a rebound. The score would remain 1-0 at the end of the half, but in the 52nd minute, redshirt-senior
Evan Garcia would finish off a corner kick from redshirt-junior
Leki Prpa, heading the ball into the goal. This was Garcia's third goal of the season.
PK SECURES WIN
In the 86th minute, a handball in the box was called in favor of the Rangers. Prpa stepped up to the spot and finished the penalty kick for Parkside. This is Prpa's seventh goal and third game-winner this year.
