Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Ranger Men's Soccer Downs Davenport

Parkside Sits Alone in First Place

Parkside 2, Davenport 1 OT

HEAR FROM COACH ZITZKE

"We were just a little off in the final third until the end of the game," head coach Jason Zitzke said. "We gave up a late goal but we didn't put our heads down."

"Good combination play led us to two beautiful finishes from Reyes and Burim," Zitzke added. "We looked good when we played quickly and had movement off the ball."

HOW IT HAPPENED

The game remained 0-0 until the 72nd minute when senior Reyes Perez put one in the back of the net. This was Perez's first goal of the season, assisted by redshirt-junior Leki Prpa. The Ranger's would only hold the lead for roughly three minutes until Davenport finished an opportunity, putting the Panthers on the scoreboard.

The time would expire on regulation, giving the Ranger's a chance to pursue an overtime victory. In the 94th minute, junior Burim Huseini scored his first goal of the season for the Ranger's, bringing down the Panther's on their home turf. The ball bounced around in the box until Huseini was able to put it away, scoring the game-winner for Parkside.

STATWORTHY

Parkside totaled 10 shots throughout the game with seven of those on goal. Prpa led the Ranger's with three shots, followed by Huseini with two. Junior Juan Gonzalez had three saves on the match. The Rangers' created five corner kick opportunities in the match. The Ranger's now have sole ownership of first place in the GLIAC, as Saginaw Valley ties Northern Michigan.
