Volleyball Defends DeSimone with Five-set Victory over NMU

Parkside 3, Northern Michigan 2

HEAR FROM COACH BAREA
"That's a really good win against a really solid team," head coach Leigh Barea said. "We had some key players step up tonight in key situations, especially Jazmine Neal. She hit .421 tonight with just one error and exuberated confidence throughout the entire match. Hopefully we can continue to build on our solid play tonight!"

NO COMEBACK TONIGHT
The Rangers, who improved to 3-4 at home this season, looked like they were on their way to a three-set match after two dominating wins in sets one (25-18) and two (25-15), but the Wildcats had other plans, storming back to win sets three and four by scores of 25-15 and 25-19, respectively. It all came down to the fifth set, which saw multiple lead changes during the early points. After NMU took a 5-3 lead, the Rangers scored eight of the next nine points en route to an 11-6 lead and a 16-14 win after NMU tied it up at 14-14.

STATWORTHY
Lexie Calloway led the team with 17 kills and also led with 19 digs while Katie Adams had 12 kills and a team-leading 25 assists. Ann Leo, who currently leads the GLIAC in total digs and digs per set, finished with 17 digs. Calloway also had four aces and 4.0 blocks. Elizabeth Mavis had 5.0 blocks. Northern Michigan finished with more kills, assists, digs and had a higher hitting percentage.
