Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Dominates Purdue Northwest

Four Different Goal Scorers in the Match

Parkside 4, Purdue Northwest 0

Since this was the last regular season home game for the Rangers, the team honored its five seniors for their hard-work and dedication towards Parkside Women's Soccer before the game. Parkside was able to defeat Purdue Northwest in today's non-conference match-up off goals from Te Stroete, Kroening, Benich and Silva. This is the Rangers third shutout of the season, previously shutting out Concordia-New York and Northwood.

HEAR FROM COACH NIKOLIC

"It was a nice team performance for our seniors last game at home," head coach Brittany Nikolic said. "It was good to put a few goals a way as well."

"Our focus was on building for our final GLIAC game this coming Friday and the conference tournament," Nikolic added. "That should give us good confidence towards that."

"Thanks to all who came out to support today, especially the alumni in attendance," Nikolic concluded.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rangers put themselves on the scoreboard early after senior Maddison Te Stroete scored her first goal of the season off a double assist from juniors Viktoria Silva and Maycee Kroening. In the 16th minute, Kroening was able to finish a chance of her own, making the score 2-0 to end the first half. Kroening scored her fourth goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Caroline Soukup.

As the second half started, the Rangers added another goal in the 52nd minute from sophomore Delaney Benich. This was Benich's fifth goal of the season off an assist from freshman Sarah Moore. In the 84th minute, Silva beat her defender and dribbled 20 yards to create an opportunity for her to score her first goal of the season. The score would remain 4-0 until the final whistle blew.

STATWORTHY

The Rangers totaled 23 shots throughout the game, with nine of those on goal while only allowing Purdue Northwest two shots on goal. Benich led the Rangers with five shots, followed by Kroening and freshman Ariana Severo with four shots. Parkside earned eight corner kicks on the match.

WHAT'S NEXT

This wraps up the Rangers regular season schedule with a record of 3-5-0 in conference. Parkside could finish as high as the sixth seed in the GLIAC Tournament, with the first game set to be Tuesday, Oct. 30.
