ST. LOUIS, Mo. – UW-Parkside men's basketball battled with GLVC Central-leading Maryville for a majority of the first half, but the Saints got hot in the final 6:00 and used a big run to cruise to a 78-59 win Saturday afternoon.

The Rangers trailed 21-17 after an
Espen Fjaerestad 3-pointer with 6:02 in the first half, and the Saints, who improved to 16-4 overall and 8-3 in the GLVC, outscored the Rangers the rest of the half 15-7 and opened the second half on an 8-2 run to take a double-digit lead. The Saints held on to the big lead for the rest of the way en route to the home victory.
Joe Borcia led the way with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting, his highest scoring output in seven games.
Jameel Moore finished with nine points while
Ramar Evans had eight and
Riley Keckeisen had seven. Maryville finished the game shooting 53.8-percent while holding the Rangers to 37.3-percent. The Saints also went +10 from the free-throw line over Parkside.
The Rangers return home for two straight, hosting Illinois-Springfield on Thursday, Feb. 1 for Pinkout Night and playing UMSL on Saturday, Feb. 3 on Military Appreciation Day.
