SOMERS, Wis. – The UW-Parkside women's basketball team fell 87-51 to Lewis University Monday night at DeSimone Gymnasium. The Flyers, who improved to 14-4 overall, 7-1 in the GLVC and extended their winning streak to seven games, were able to outrebound the Rangers throughout the night allowing multiple second chances. Parkside will look to bounce back later this week with two more home games starting with William Jewell on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 5:30 p.m.

Parkside started off slow in the first quarter and trailed 25-9 at the end of one, shooting 61-percent to Parkside's 21-percent. Parkside was able to battle back in the second quarter putting up 21 points, but the Flyers matched their scoring output. The Rangers came out aggressive and looking to shoot in the second half, but Lewis was all over the offensive glass, as the team finished with 23 offensive rebounds.
The Rangers were led by sophomore
Carolina Rahkonen, who scored a career-high 22 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Asiah Lawson and
Ali Bettencourt each added eight points for the Rangers. The Flyer's Jessica Kelliher led the team with 24 points and finished with a double-double, adding 10 rebounds.
The Rangers will return to action on Jan. 18 facing William Jewell at home inside DeSimone with a tipoff time of 5:30 p.m.
