Rangers Softball Announces Schedule Change for Weekend

SOMERS, Wis. -- Wisconsin-Parkside head coach Kristin Ortman has announced a schedule change for this weekend as the Rangers will be playing Drury in a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader on Friday (April 28) instead of the originally scheduled date of Sunday.

The Rangers were originally scheduled to host Missouri S&T on Saturday (April 29) and Drury on Sunday, but with weather issues looming in the Somers area the doubleheader against the Panthers has been moved to Friday. The games against Missouri S&T will remain on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.

Wisconsin-Parkside, which is 16-28 overall and 10-14 in the GLVC, is in a battle to secure one of the eight spots in the postseason tournament. Indianapolis currently occupies the eighth, and final spot, in the league standings with a 13-13 overall record.

Senior Carly Dundee has been the Rangers leader in both hitting and pitching this season. She leads the Rangers with a .361 batting average and also tops the team with 10 homers and 37 RBIs. Dundee has an 11-14 record in the circle and has posted a 2.96 earned run average.

Freshman Jessica Shields has had an outstanding initial season with the program as she is second on the team with a .348 batting average and tops the team with 25 runs scored and 19 stolen bases. Sophomore Kellie Fenza ranks third on the team batting .304 and is second on the squad with 22 RBIs.

Freshman Allison Hausl is 4-11 on the season with a 5.55 earned run average and has struck out 32 batters on the year.

Drury, which is 19-32 overall and 6-20 in the GLVC, has been led by Kaelie Smith who is hitting .320 with 27 RBIs and is the only Panther regular with a batting average above .300. Jessie Kjeldgaard is the Panthers top pitcher with 10 wins and a 3.43 earned run average.

Missouri S&T is currently 19-30 overall and has an 11-15 mark in conference play. Monica Weiss is the Miners top hitter batting .377, while Savannah Fedorchak has seven homers and has driven in 29 runs. Avery English and Kati Viets each have nine wins on the season for Missouri S&T.

Friday's doubleheader against Drury will begin at 12 p.m. at the Case Softball Complex, while the Rangers will meet the Miners at 12 p.m. on Saturday.

Saturday will also mark Senior Day for the Rangers as Dundee, Rachel Seefeldt, Sara Markelonis, Raegan Fingerman and Caressa DeRossett will be playing in their final regular season home games.
