Dundee Homers Twice in Rangers Win Against Indianapolis

SOMERS, Wis. -- Senior Carly Dundee belted two home runs and also pitched a complete game in the circle leading Wisconsin-Parkside to a 6-2 win over Indianapolis and a split of a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader on Saturday at the Case Softball Complex.

Dundee went 2-for-2 with two homers and four RBIs, while also pitching 7.0 innings and allowing just two runs while striking out five batters in game two of the doubleheader.

The Rangers, who improved to 8-18 overall and 3-5 in the GLVC, hit a season-high three homers in the victory as Madison Manders also went deep.

Wisconsin-Parkside used the long ball to take a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two. Jessica Shields walked to lead off the inning and stole second to move into scoring position. One batter later, she jogged home when Dundee ripped a homer to left staking the Rangers to an early lead.

The Rangers used the long ball in the second inning to double the lead. With two outs, Cassie Walek was hit by a pitch and Manders delivered a two-run shot down the leftfield line to increase the lead to 4-0.

The Greyhounds, who dropped to 26-8 overall and 7-3 in conference play, trimmed the lead to 4-1 with a run in the top of the fifth inning but Dundee would answer for the Rangers in the bottom of the inning.

With two outs and Kellie Fenza on first, Dundee blasted a homer to straightaway center to up the Rangers lead to 6-1.

The Greyhounds added a run in the top of the sixth inning and had runners on second and third in the seventh inning, but Dundee struck out Natalie Lalich to end the game.

Indianapolis won the opener of the doubleheader 2-0 behind the pitching of Lauren Honkomp. She limited the Rangers to just three hits while striking out seven batters in improving to 18-1 on the season.

Freshman Allison Hausl was the tough-luck loser for Wisconsin-Parkside as she went 7.0 innings and allowed six hits and two runs.

Dundee, Rachel Seefeldt and Manders each picked up base hits for the Rangers in game one.

Wisconsin-Parkside will return to action on Sunday (April 2) when it visits Saint Joseph's for a GLVC doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
