CHICAGO, Ill. – The last time UW-Parkside men's basketball traveled to face Division one foe Illinois-Chicago the Rangers came away with a win, but Parkside couldn't do it the second time around as the Flames won 76-48 Wednesday night in an exhibition game.

The Rangers, who defeated UIC in the first meeting 79-73 on Dec. 21, 2004, hung tough in the first half, but a strong second half by the Flames helped the Horizon League foe pull away. Late in the first half, the Rangers were within six points at 31-25 after Jonah Matulle scored eight straight points for the Rangers, but the Flames ended the half scoring the final five points to lead 35-25 at the break. In the second half, UIC used an 11-0 run early-on to jump out to a 20-point lead and Parkside couldn't find a way to recover.
Three Rangers finished in double-figures as Espen Fjaerestad led the way with 12 points, all of which came on made 3-pointers. Adam Bonk and Matulle each finished with 10 points while Joe Borcia scored seven, grabbed nine rebounds and had two blocks.
The Flames, who came in ranked No. 7 in division one in blocks per game, finished with 12 blocks and shot over 50-percent from the floor while holding Parkside to 26.1-percent. The Green & White finished with 16 assists on 18 made field goals.
Parkside will stay on the road to face No. 3 ranked Bellarmine on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. following the Ranger women's game.
