SOMERS, Wis. – The back end of the lineup came in clutch for the UW-Parkside wrestling team Wednesday night, as the final four weight classes swept their opponents to help the Rangers defeat No. 10 ranked UW-Whitewater 25-14 at DeSimone Gymnasium. The match between these two teams is the Battle for the Sake Bottle.

The Rangers improved to 2-0 this season with both matches coming at home. UW-Whitewater, who is fresh off a dual meet win over No. 1 ranked Wartburg, came in to the match ranked No. 10 in Division Three.
After the Warhawks won at 125, No. 9 ranked Airk Furseth pinned No. 10 ranked Hazen Rice in 1:48 to tie it up 6-6. The Warhawks saw No. 10 ranked Devin Tortorice win at 141 and Frank Yattoni earned a 2-0 decision to make it 11-9 UW-W. No. 12 ranked Pernevlon Sheppard earned a 7-3 decision at 157 to give the Rangers a brief lead, but the Warhawks grabbed it right back with a decision at 165. That's when the Rangers came in clutch, as Ben Hakes, Connor Price, No. 9 ranked James Lehman and Joe Foret all won their matches to give the Rangers the win.
Parkside will take the weekend off and will be back in action at the 39th Annual Midwest Classic in Indianapolis from Dec. 16-17.
