SOMERS, Wis. – UW-Parkside women's basketball fell in their final nonconference game of the season, as Northwood used a big second half to defeat the Rangers 83-75 at DeSimone Gymnasium on New Year's Eve.

Parkside was hot in the first half, where the team shot 15-of-29 from the floor and 7-for-15 from beyond the arc.
Ali Bettencourt was on fire in the first half, as the redshirt-junior scored 18 points on 5-of-7 shooting with three 3-pointers. Midway through the second quarter,
Asiah Lawson,
Lucija Bilic and Bettencourt hit back-to-back-to-back triples to give the Rangers their largest lead of the game at 14 points with 6:37 until the half. After a pair of free throws by the Timberwolves with :01 remaining, the Rangers went into the half with a 49-38 lead.
In the second half, Northwood ran a 2-3 zone that gave the Rangers plenty of issues and the Timberwolves outscored Parkside 45-26 in the second half. Northwood won their fourth straight game and eighth in the last nine games while Parkside fell to 5-2 at home this season. Northwood went 19-for-21 from the free-throw line in the second half.
Bettencourt finished as the team's leading scorer with 22 points while Lawson and
Hayley Maystead each tallied 12. Bilic finished with nine points, her highest margin since the season opener. Lawson also finished with seven assists and five steals.
Parkside returns to action on Jan. 4 with their third GLVC game of season, hosting McKendree in DeSimone Gymnasium at 5:30 p.m. before the men's game.
