Parkside hung tough with the three-time defending GLIAC Tournament Champions in the first half, trailing by just 1-point at halftime. With the Bulldogs clinging to a short lead for the most of the first half, the Rangers made a push in the later minutes, tying the game at 25-25 with 5:18 to play and taking their first lead of the game on an
Espen Fjaerestad 3-pointer with 1:25 remaining. A mid-range jumper by the Bulldogs with 1:00 to play ended the first half scoring with the score 33-32 Ferris State.
The second half was a completely different story in the beginning, as the Bulldogs came out on a 17-0 run, making it a 50-32 FSU lead until
Jonah Matulle connected on a 3-pointer to end the run. After the long run, the Bulldogs led by double-digits for much of the second half, but the Rangers kept fighting, bringing it to single digits on multiple occasions.
Five Parkside players finished in double-figures, as
Jameel Moore led the way for the third straight game with 15 points. Moore was coming off back-to-back 20-point games.
Bret Barclay added 14 while
Espen Fjaerestad had 11 and both
Ramar Evans and Matulle finished with 10.
The Rangers return to action with their first GLVC game since Dec. 7 next time out, hosting McKendree in DeSimone at 7 p.m. following the Ranger women's team.
