ORANGE, Calif. – Redshirt senior Hayley Maystead led the UW-Parkside women's basketball in scoring for the second straight game to open the season, but that didn't help the Rangers (0-2) at the DII Tip-off Classic as they fell to Young Harris (1-1) 72-64 Saturday morning.

Maystead followed her 18-point performance on Friday with 19 points on Saturday while connecting on a pair of 3-pointers and going 8-for-14 from the floor. Ali Bettencourt hit a game-high four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points while Asiah Lawson led the team in rebounds with nine and added eight points.
The second quarter was the difference maker on Saturday, as Young Harris outscored Parkside 22-13. In the first, third and fourth quarters combined, the Rangers outscored Mountain Lions by one. The Rangers cut the deficit down to six in the fourth quarter and a couple of occasions, but good free throw shooting down the stretch sealed it for Young Harris.
The Rangers will battle Wayne State (Neb.) on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 12:45 p.m. to finish out the DII Tip-off classic.
