ORANGE, Calif. – The UW-Parkside women's basketball team opened its 2017-18 season Friday morning with a 105-79 loss to No. 16 ranked Azusa Pacific in the DII Tip-off Classic. The Rangers will face Young Harris on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. followed by Wayne State (Neb.) on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 12:45 p.m.

Azusa Pacific's high-scoring offense got out to a 26-14 lead after the first quarter and didn't look back, scoring 20+ in each quarter of the game. The Rangers stayed tough in the second half, outscoring the Cougars 27-23 in the third quarter and putting up 21 points in the fourth.
Parkside finished with three players in double-figures, including Lucija Bilic, who recorded her first career double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds while finishing with a game-high three blocks. Hayley Maystead led the Rangers with 18 points while shooting 6-for-6 from the field while Asiah Lawson finished with 14 points and hit four 3-pointers. Ali Bettencourt and Georgie Eishold each finished with eight points and Alisha Murphy had seven.
Parkside's first home game will come on Thursday, Nov. 16 against Trinity Christian College.
