SOMERS, Wis. – With big help from some timely 3-point shooting, UW-Parkside women's basketball defeated Trinity International 70-65 in overtime Saturday afternoon at DeSimone Gymnasium.

The Rangers (2-7) trailed for most of the game, but battled their way back in the second half where they outscored the Trojans (2-4) 38-29 before winning the overtime 11-6. At the end of the second half, Hayley Maystead connected on a game-tying 3-pointer with 1:00 to play and Georgie Eishold hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with :17 left the play, but the Trojans came back to tie it with a three of their own with :06 remaining. Alisha Murphy missed a mid-range jumper as time expired in regulation. In overtime, TIU held a 65-63 advantage until Maystead again hit a big 3-pointer, making it 66-65 with 1:02 to play in the game and the Rangers iced it away at the free-throw line to end it.
Four Rangers finished in double-figures as Bettencourt led all scorers with 19, including a perfect 7-for-7 game from the free-throw line. Carolina Rahkonen and Eishold each narrowly missed double-doubles, as Rahkonen finished with 13 points and nine rebounds while Eishold went for nine points and nine rebounds. Murphy and Maystead each went for 10 points and four assists.
Parkside won the rebounding battle 45-43 and were +7 in turnovers compared to the Trojans. TIU outshot the Rangers 40.7-percent to 35.1-percent.
The Green & White are home for its next two games, first hosting Indianapolis in the GLVC opener on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Sunday nonconference game against MacMurray on Dec. 3 at 1 p.m.
