SOMERS, Wis. – The UW-Parkside volleyball team sent off its seniors Shelby Cheston, Alyssa Sprague and Lexi Turek off in a big way, as the Rangers defeated Southern Indiana 3-1 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon in the 2017 season finale.

The Rangers jumped out to a commanding 2-0 lead after winning the first two sets 25-20 and 25-22. After the Eagles came back to take set three 25-11, the Rangers finished it out with a 25-22 win in set four to clinch the match.
In the first set with Parkside trailing 20-19, Leah Fenske came to serve and came in clutch, winning six straight points including three straight aces to end the set. In the second, the teams went back-and-forth until the end where USI led 21-18 and had the Rangers on the ropes. Parkside didn't back down, scoring five straight points and seven of the last eight to come back and win it. It was all Eagles in the third, making it a 2-1 match, but in the fourth the Rangers took a slight lead late and didn't let the Eagles come within two to hold on to the win.
While Rachel Hedman led the Rangers with 15 kills, Turek had a huge night in her final game at DeSimone, going for 14 kills, four blocks and hitting .609. Katie Adams finished with a team-high 43 assists while Annie Leo led with 21 digs. Lexie Calloway added 11 kills while Fenske had seven kill and the three big aces.
The Rangers closed out the 2017 season at 13-17 overall and 8-10 in the GLVC in Dominic Yoder's first season as the head coach.
