CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The UW-Parkside women's basketball team held a halftime lead in the opener of the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament, but the host Cedarville used a big second half to come back and defeat the Rangers 90-78 Friday night.

The Rangers took a 35-30 lead into the half after outscoring the Yellow Jackets 22-12 in the second quarter. The second half was a different story, as Cedarville's offense hit fire and shot 70-percent from the floor including 7-for-9 from 3-point range to total 60 points in the half. After a Hayley Maystead field goal to open the second half, Cedarville went on a 16-0 run to take a big lead they would not surrender.
Redshirt junior Ali Bettencourt led the way for the Rangers, going for a season-high 23 points and hitting 6-for-11 from beyond the arc. She also chipped in six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Carolina Rahkonen finished with her first career double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Maystead also finished in double-figures for the third time this season, scoring 13 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
The Rangers will finish out the Midwest Region Crossover with a game against Ohio Dominican on Saturday, Nov. 11 at noon before returning to DeSimone for the home opener against Trinity Christian College on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m.
