SOMERS, Wis. – On a night where senior Lexi Turek recorded her 1,000th career kill and junior Katie Adams had her 1,000th season assist, the UW-Parkside volleyball team dropped a five-set thriller to Bellarmine Friday night at DeSimone Gym.

The teams traded wins back-and-forth, but the Knights (23-7, 13-5 GLVC) won the match 25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 13-25, 15-13. In the first, the Rangers (12-17, 7-10 GLVC) led 15-10, but seven straight points to follow for the Knights helped give them the early 1-0 advantage. In the second, the Rangers were able to even it up after scoring three of the final four points following a tie at 22-22. In the third, Bellarmine jumped out to a big lead early, and while the Rangers were able to get the lead down to two late, the Knights came away with the win. The fourth was all Rangers, as the team took a 7-0 lead that after a pair of Turek and Leah Fenske kills. The teams went even at 13-13 in the fifth, but the Knights used a pair of Ranger attack errors to preserve the win.
Turek, who finished with a game-high 19 kills tonight, became the sixth player in Parkside history to 1,000 after assistant coach Becca Roembke hit the mark last year. Adams finished with a game-high 56 assists, putting her at 1,027 for the season. She is now sixth in Parkside history for single season assists.
After Turek, freshman Rachel Hedman finished with 18 kills while Leah Fenske had 12. Annie Leo led with 29 digs while Alyssa Sprague finished with 19. Leo also had a pair of aces.
The Rangers will conclude the 2017 season on Saturday as the team hosts Southern Indiana at 3 p.m. in DeSimone Gym for Senior Day.
