KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UW-Parkside volleyball team fell on the road to Rockhurst in straight sets Friday night, as the Hawks defeated the Rangers 25-22, 25-20, 25-10.

The Rangers fall to 11-13 and go even in the GLVC at 6-6, while the Hawks, who are receiving votes in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll, stayed atop the GLVC West Division with an 8-4 conference record to go along with a 20-6 overall record.
The teams battled back and forth in the first set, as the Rangers had it tied 22-22 after a Rachel Hedman kill, but the Hawks scored the final three points to take the set and lead 1-0. In the second set, Parkside led early, but couldn't take the lead back after Rockhurst took a 9-5 lead after scoring five straight. The third set was all Rockhurst, as the Hawks jumped out to an 11-2 lead and didn't look back.
The Hawks finished with 47 kills while the Rangers had 27. Parkside led in both blocks (9-7) and aces (2-0), but trailed in hitting percentage (.248-.082). Individually, Lexi Turek led the Rangers with nine kills while Hedman had seven and Leah Fenske had four. Elizabeth Mavis finished with four blocks and Katie Adams led the team with 21 assists.
The Rangers will stay on the road to face Drury on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. before returning home for five straight home games to end the season.
