Lexi Turek (Naperville, Ill.) sent the University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team to its most memorable win of the season, a 5-set victory over Findlay (16-4). The Rangers improved to 10-10 on the season with the 3-2 win (16-25, 25-21, 25-15, 23-25, 15-13) in the Midwest Crossover in Aurora, Ill.
Turek finished the night with 17 kills and only one error in 28 swings, registering an incredible .571 hitting percentage. The senior's effort sparked the biggest win of head coach
Dominic Yoder's first season at the helm of the program.
After a tough start in set one, the Rangers regrouped and took a 2-1 lead heading into the fourth. In the third set, Parkside stormed out to a 9-2 lead and never looked back, hitting .577 in the set with 17 kills and only two errors.
Findlay forced the decisive fifth set with the final three points of the fourth set to win it 25-23.
In the final set, the teams battled through seven ties, but the Rangers took the lead for good with a kill to make it 11-10. Â
Freshman
Rachel Hedman (Stoughton, Wis.) tallied 16 kills and only three errors to hit .382, while sophomore
Leah Fenske (Oconomowoc, Wis.) also reached double digits with 11 kills.
Junior
Katie Adams (Racine, Wis.) totaled 53 assists to guide the offense, while sophomore libero
Annie Leo (Shorewood, Wis.) led the defense with 25 digs.
Parkside returns to action on Saturday, playing Tiffin at 3 p.m.
