SOMERS, Wis. -- The Wisconsin-Parkside wrestling team will host its inaugural Great Lakes Valley Conference match on Saturday (Jan. 21) when it welcomes Maryville to DeSimone Gymnasium for a 3 p.m. contest.

This marks the first year that the GLVC has sponsored wrestling as a championship sport, and the Rangers first-ever conference contest features two of the top programs in NCAA Division II.

Wisconsin-Parkside is ranked fifth in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Poll and second in the NCAA Power Rankings, while Maryville is third in the NWCA Poll and sixth in the Power Rankings.

The Rangers, who are 6-2 in dual meets this season, are led by All-Americans Ronzel Darling, Nick Becker and Montrail Johnson. Darling has a 22-3 overall record and is ranked third in his 125 pound weight category, while Becker is 11-0 on the season and is the top-ranked wrestler at 174 pounds. Johnson is also undefeated on the season with an 11-0 record while competing at 184 pounds and is the second-ranked wrestler in his weight category.

James Lehman, who is ranked sixth nationally at 197 pounds, has a 25-3 overall record and leads the Rangers with nine pins. Brett Scoles, who wrestles at 157 pounds, is ranked 12th nationally and has compiled a 16-9 overall record.

Maryville is 1-0 on the season after defeating McKendree 19-18 in its GLVC opener on Jan. 18. The Saints feature seven wrestlers who are ranked nationally in their respective weight divisions.

Dakota Bauer is ranked seventh at 133 pounds, Nate Rodriguez is the top-ranked wrestler at 141 pounds, James Krischke is ranked 10th at 149 pounds, Greg Hegarty is ranked fifth at 157 pounds, Zeb Wahle is ranked fifth at 184 pounds, Ethan Sheretz is ranked eighth at 197 pounds and Donnell Walker is ranked fourth in the 285-pound division.

The match will be live streamed on the Wisconsin-Parkside website beginning at 2:45 p.m.
