SOMERS, Wis. -- The Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball team will have a lot on the line on Thursday (Jan. 12) when it welcomes Maryville to DeSimone Gymnasium for a Great Lakes Valley Conference game beginning at 7:30 p.m.
First is the Rangers national ranking, as Wisconsin-Parkside jumped into the latest D2SIDA Top 25 Poll this week at No. 22 following road wins at Drury and Missouri S&T. Secondly, is the Rangers current 12-game winning streak which is the seventh-longest active win streak in the nation. And lastly, is the Wisconsin-Parkside home floor as the Rangers have won all seven of their home games this season including GLVC wins against Indianapolis and Saint Joseph's.
Wisconsin-Parkside, which enters the contest with a 12-1 overall record and a 4-0 mark in the GLVC, is the top-ranked three-point shooting team in the nation and is sixth nationally in field goal percentage shooting. The Rangers are shooting 45.3 percent from behind the three-point line and 52.4 percent from the field.
The Rangers are averaging 91.0 points per game in their seven home games this season and are outscoring the opposition by 22.6 points per game. UW-Parkside is shooting even better at home as the Rangers are shooting 55.7 percent from the floor and 49.3 percent from the three-point line.
Senior
Alexander Brown is the Rangers leading scorer in home games averaging 17.1 points per game and he also tops the team overall averaging 16.8 points per contest.
Junior
Kendale McCullum ranks second on the team averaging 14.5 points per game, while
Jake Verhagen is averaging 11.5 points per outing.
Maryville, which is 7-10 overall and 1-4 in the GLVC, has won four of its last five games on the season. The Saints are led by Grant Sims who averages 14.9 points per game and Forrester Sims who averages 12.6 points per contest.
