SOMERS, Wis. --
Lauren Bialas scored the game-winning goal early in the second period lifting the Wisconsin-Parkside women's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Missouri S&T in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match on Friday at Wood Road Field.
Bialas broke a 2-2 deadlock when she drilled home a shot from the top of the box that found the back of the net at the 57:15 mark of the second period.
The victory ran the Rangers current winning streak to two straight and improved their record to 2-2-1 overall and 2-1 in GLVC play.
Wisconsin-Parkside, which held a 20-8 advantage in shots, also received goals from
Jillian Hetfleisch and
Jenna Rivera.
Hetfleisch got the Rangers off to a fast start as she took a cross from Bialas and beat Karen Nightingale giving UWP a 1-0 lead just 2:13 into the match.
Missouri S&T, which fell to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in league play, answered with a game-tying goal at the 8:20 mark of the first when Kayla Foster scored her first goal of the season.
The Rangers regained the lead when Rivera headed in a corner kick from
Taylor Schiffer-Jander giving UWP a 2-1 lead at the 54:44 mark of the second.
Julie Bride answered for the Miners just 1:33 later when she picked up a loose ball in the box and drilled it into the open net.
Bialas then capped the flurry of goals when she scored just 58 seconds later putting the Rangers in front to stay.
Sarah Dobrowolski picked up the victory in goal for the Rangers as she made three saves in 62:51 minutes of action.
Kayla Tabalske worked the final 27:09 of action and made one save and did not permit a goal.
Wisconsin-Parkside will seek to extend its winning streak to three straight when it hosts Drury in a GLVC match at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 18) at Wood Road Field.
