Porter Leads Women's Soccer to First Win of Season

LIBERTY, Mo. -- Sophomore Lexi Porter scored two goals leading the Wisconsin-Parkside women's soccer team to its first win of the season with a 4-2 victory over William Jewel on Sunday at Greene Stadium.

Porter, who scored her first goal of the season on Friday at Rockhurts, poured in two more goals on Sunday in the Rangers victory.

Porter got the Rangers off to a fast start as she found the back of the net just 2:44 into the match off a feed from Lauren Bialas.

William Jewel, which dropped to 1-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, rallied to take the lead before the intermission. Natalie Owens tied the match at 1-1 with a goal at the 11:28 mark of the first and then Madilyn Payne put the Cardinals in front with a goal at 37:22 in the first.

Wisconsin-Parkside, which improved to 1-2-1 overall and 1-1 in league play, dominated the second period as the Rangers held a 12-2 advantage in shots and outscored William Jewel 3-0.

Brooke Munroe began the comeback for Wisconsin-Parkside when she knotted the match at 2-2 with a header on an assist from Taylor Schiffer-Jander at the 50:56 mark.

Chloe Couves put Wisconsin-Parkside ahead to stay at 3-2 when she scored an unassisted goal just 1:27 later.

Porter then iced the victory for UWP when she scored her second goal of the match at 62:07 mark to up the lead to 4-2.

Sarah Dobrowolski picked up the victory in goal for the Rangers as she turned aside four shots in 90 minutes of work.

Wisconsin-Parkside returns to action on Friday (Sept. 16) when it hosts Missouri S&T in a GLVC match at 2:30 p.m. at the Wood Road Soccer Field.
