(Apr. 3, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside baseball squad fell 7-0 in a resumption of yesterday's suspended contest before dropping a heartbreaking 7-6 extra innings affair against Saint Joseph's College on Sunday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference showdown at Gil Hodges Field.

In game one, three errors opened the floodgates for the host Pumas (15-13, 4-3 GLVC) who scored all seven of their runs in the bottom of the sixth to emerge with the win.

Juan Bowers led the Rangers (4-18, 0-7 GLVC) at the plate, finishing two-for-three while
Josh Serio was hit with the loss, pitching 5 2/3 innings and striking out 12 while allowing no earned runs. SJC's Tasker Strobel tallied the win, tossing six innings and fanning six.

Extra innings were necessary in game two of the afternoon with the Pumas scoring the final six runs of the game to claim the win despite UW-Parkside outhitting the hosts.

Saint Joe's opened the scoring with a single run in the first before a
Jake Kolasinski double in the third inning plated
Zach Thompson to tie the score.
DJ Peltz doubled in
Kyohei Makita to give the Rangers their first lead of the contest in the fifth, later scoring on a wild pitch to put Parkside up 3-1.

The Green and White doubled its tally in the sixth, plating three runs, including two off a Peltz double to left center field. The Pumas responded with five runs in the sixth inning to tie the contest. Neither team was able to score in the seventh, forcing extra innings. In extras, a bases loaded hit by pitch allowing SJC to bring in the winning run to escape with the win.

Makita led the Rangers at the plate with a three-for-five performance, also scoring two runs while Peltz collected two hits and three RBIs.

Cody Rolshoven was hit with the loss, pitching 1 2/3 innings in relief of
Mario Samuel who struck out five in 5 2/3 innings of effort, including tossing a one-hitter through the first five frames. SJC's Kevin Forde claimed the win, striking out three and allowing just one hit over the final two innings.

The two squads close out the series on Monday morning with first pitch slated for 11 a.m.
