ROLLA, Mo. (Apr. 24, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside softball squad concluded its 2016 campaign on Sunday afternoon dropping a pair of games to host Missouri University S&T in a Great Lakes Valley Conference twinbill at the S&T Softball Field. The Rangers were thwarted 4-3 in a marathon 10-inning contest to open the series before succumbing 11-1 in the nightcap.

The Rangers (8-41, 5-25 GLVC) struck first in the series opener, plating a pair of runs in the top of the third inning. Kellie Fenza drove in the contest's opening run, hitting a single to right field to score Paige Schmittling while a Carly Dundee base hit allowed Fenza to score, giving UW-Parkside the 2-0 edge.

The Miners (16-35, 6-24 GLVC) tied the game in the fourth, pushing across a pair of runs. Neither team was able to generate runs over the next three innings, forcing extras. Three consecutive singles in the top of the 10th put UW-Parkside back on top 3-2 but Missouri S&T tallied two scores in the bottom of the 10th with a walkoff single giving the Miners the 4-3 victory.

Dundee and Jordan Nichols led UW-Parkside at the plate, both finishing with a pair of hits.

Dundee absorbed the loss, striking out two in 9 1/3 innings of work while S&T's Kati Viets secured the complete game win with three strikeouts while yielding three earned runs.

Sara Markelonis provided the opening score of game two, stealing home after drawing a walk to start the second inning. Missouri S&T piled on nine runs in the bottom of the same inning while adding two insurance scores in the fourth for the 11-1 victory to complete the sweep.

Amber Ramos suffered the loss inside the circle, striking out three in four innings of work. Courtney Jackson earned the win for S&T, striking out three in the complete game effort.
