(Apr. 2, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside softball team was unable to keep pace with Great Lakes Valley Conference rival McKendree University on Saturday afternoon, dropping both ends of a doubleheader at Bearcat Field. The Rangers opened the day with an 8-3 setback before falling 7-1 in game two.
Â
The Rangers (4-27, 1-14 GLVC) had the tying run on deck in the seventh inning of game one but was unable to negate the damage done from a five-run fifth inning by the host Bearcats (15-19, 9-7 GLVC).

Â
The UW-Parkside bats came alive in the fourth inning, collecting four hits and scoring three runs to tie the game. A

Paige Schmittling for the frame's first run before

UW-Parkside loaded the bases in the top of the seventh and had the tying run on deck before an infield pop fly ended the game as McKendree escaped with the win in a game the Rangers stranded 14 runners on base.
Â
Dundee finished two-for-three at the plate with two walks while
Kellie Fenza and
Raegan Fingerman each delivered a pair of base knocks.
Â
Dundee suffered the loss inside the circle, pitching 4 2/3 innings and striking out three while McKendree's Holly Magre fanned 14 in the complete game win.
Â
In game two, the Bearcats tallied the opening four runs of the game en route to the doubleheader sweep. McKendree tallied two runs in the opening inning before adding single runs in both the second and third innings.
Â
A Fingerman sacrifice fly plated the Rangers' lone run in the fourth inning, bringing home Dundee who belted a leadoff double. McKendree padded its lead with three more runs in the bottom of the fourth while neither team was able to manufacture a run the rest of the way.
Â
Dundee led the Rangers at the plate, going two-for-three.
Â
Amber Ramos was hit with the loss, pitching three innings and allowing five earned runs. McKendree's Maci Ingram netted the win, scattering five hits and striking out eight to collect the win.
