KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Feb. 28, 2016)-- The 10th-seeded University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team saw its postseason run come to a halt on Sunday, succumbing to a 16-2 run midway through the game and falling 73-62 to seventh-seeded Rockhurst University in the opening round of the 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament inside Mason-Halpin Fieldhouse.

The visiting Rangers (13-14) were victimized by a 16-2 run spanning both halves, turning a two-point UW-Parkside lead into a 12-point deficit. The Hawks' scoring spree included 10 consecutive points, including the first seven of the third period. Rockhurst (15-12) owned a nine-point buffer the rest of the game, claiming the 11-point win to advance to Thursday's GLVC Tournament Quarterfinals in Saint Charles, Missouri.

Parkside never trailed in the opening half, enjoying a 32-27 lead at the halftime intermission. The Rangers roared out to a 16-12 lead after one quarter of play while a Tara Knapstein layup with 6:47 left in the second period gave UW-Parkside its largest lead of the day at 22-13. Rockhurst pulled within a possession after scoring 14 of the next 22 points before Brittney Fair drained a layup with 12 seconds left to give the visitors the five-point halftime lead.

Fair hit all six of her field goals in the first half, pacing the Rangers with 16 points. Stephanie Furr added 12 points and six boards while Kristin Conniff chipped in nine while Jessica Prince had eight points with six rebounds.

Mary Dineen led all scorers, piling on 30 points to power the Hawks while Lowe and Hart added 13 and 10, respectively.

UW-Parkside owned a sizable 36-20 edge in points in the paint but struggled from the perimeter, hitting just 8.3 percent (one-for-eight) of its shots from three-point range.

Sunday's game was the final contest in a Ranger uniform for seniors Kristin Conniff, Stephanie Furr, Tara Knapstein, Jessica Prince, and Rani Singh. The five combined for 64 victories over the past four seasons, including a pair of 20-win campaigns and two appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament.
