(Feb. 28, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside softball squad owned an early lead but was unable to keep pace with defending Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Champion Wayne State University, falling 5-1 on Sunday inside the Rosemont Dome.
Madison Manders led off the bottom of the first inning with a double to center field, later scoring on a
Carly Dundee double to right for the early 1-0 lead. The Warriors seized the lead in the third inning, pushing across a pair of runs on a Shelby Spano home run shot. WSU padded its lead with a run in the fifth along with two more in the seventh for the 5-1 decision.

Dundee suffered the ioss, striking out two in six innings of work while Wayne State's Lyndsay Butler earned the complete game win, fanning nine batters.

UW-Parkside will be mothballed next week before opening up Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Mar. 12 against the University of Missouri-Saint Louis.
