(Feb. 21, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside softball team owned leads in both games on Sunday but was unhinged on both occasions after yielding late runs in a pair of setbacks in day two of the NSU Softball Festival at RiverHawks Park. The Rangers fell 8-2 to Midwestern State University to open the day before succumbing to a walkoff grand slam in a 4-3 setback against host Northeastern State University.

In the opener against Midwestern State, the Mustangs (12-7) pushed across a single run in the top of the third before the Rangers (1-7) responded with a pair of scores in the bottom half of the frame to seize the lead.
Carly Dundee plated both runs on a single to center field, bringing home
Paige Schmittling and
Emily Bell.

MSU tied the game at 2-2 after pushing across a score in the fifth inning before exploding for six runs in the sixth inning to seal the game.

Dundee absorbed the loss, striking out four and allowing two earned runs in six innings of action while the Mustangs' Erin Knox earned the win, striking out five in the complete game effort.

In the nightcap against Northeastern State (10-4), the Rangers had a shutout through the sixth inning before yielding a grand slam to nine-hitter Kelsey Harmon in the bottom of the seventh as the RiverHawks escaped with the walkoff win, sending UW-Parkside its fourth one-run setback of the season.

UW-Parkside got things going in the third inning, receiving RBI singles from
Kellie Fenza and Dundee for the 2-0 edge.
Jordan Nichols added a solo home run in the top of the seventh, clearing the left center field fence to post a 3-0 edge.

In the bottom of the seventh, consecutive walks and an infield single juiced the bases before Harmon belted the ball over the right field fence for the walkoff grand slam.

Parkside outhit the hosts, collecting seven over the course of the game with
Rachel Seefeldt leading the way with a two-for-three performance.

Bridget Jost pitched the opening 5 2/3 innings for the Rangers, striking out two and allowing no runs and just five base runners before giving way to
Amber Ramos. NSU's Taryn Gray tallied the complete game win, striking out four.

UW-Parkside gets another crack at Northeastern State tomorrow morning, closing out its Oklahoma trip with a 10 a.m. showdown against the RiverHawks.
