(Feb. 18, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball surged out to an early lead but was unable to sustain that success, dropping a 76-62 decision to Saint Joseph's College in a Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division showdown on Thursday inside DeSimone Gymnasium.

The host Rangers (13-11, 7-9 GLVC) came out swinging, netting eight of the opening 10 points to secure an 8-2 edge with 7:10 left in the opening quarter. The Pumas (18-8, 10-5 GLVC) responded over the next six minutes, scoring 18 of the next 20 points to stake a 20-10 lead with 1:06 left in the first quarter. Saint Joe's extended its lead to 19 with 2:37 left in the second quarter before enjoying a 38-25 buffer at the halftime intermission.

UW-Parkside knifed the gap to 10 points in the third period but was unable to come any closer in the 14-point setback.

Tara Knapstein led the Rangers, piling on 21 points and securing six rebounds in 27 minutes of action while
Brittney Fair came off the bench and tallied 17 points, hitting seven of her 10 shots from the field.
Rani Singh netted nine points, draining a trio of threes while
Jessica Prince procured five rebounds.

Kalea Parks scored 30 points, including 22 in the first half while shooting 14-for-18 from the floor. Courtney Kvachkoff had a double-double of 16 points and 13 boards while Lauren Davis chipped in 16.

UW-Parkside owned a 28-4 advantage in bench production but was outrebounded by a commanding 40-25 margin while the Pumas closed the contest shooting at a 55.4 percent (31-for-56) clip from the field.
