(Feb. 20, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team fell victim to a 21-2 run midway through the second half on Saturday as Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division rival University of Indianapolis spoiled Senior Day for the Rangers, defeating the hosts 69-59 inside DeSimone Gymnasium.

The homestanding Rangers (13-12, 7-10 GLVC) led by as many as 11 points in the first half and took a 35-28 lead into the locker room at half but was held to just 24 points in the second half as the Greyhounds (8-19, 6-11 GLVC) rallied for the win. Despite the loss, UW-Parkside secured a spot in the GLVC Tournament after favorable results around the league punched the Rangers' ticket.

UW-Parkside took a 44-42 lead with 51 seconds left in the third period on a
Jessica Prince layup before the Greyhounds piled on 21 of the next 23 points as the Rangers hit just one of their nine shots during the stretch as UIndy took a 63-46 lead with 4:26 remaining in the fourth quarter. UW-Parkside whittled the gap down to nine on three occasions in the final two minutes but was unable to come any closer in the 10-point defeat.

Indianapolis tallied the opening four points of the game but the Rangers answered with 16 of the final 21 points in the first quarter, enjoying a 16-9 edge after 10 minutes of action. A pair of
Tara Knapstein free throws extended UW-Parkside's lead to 11 with 5:51 left in the second quarter before nursing a 35-28 lead at the half.

Brittney Fair led the Rangers, coming off the bench and scoring 13 points in just 18 minutes of play.
Tara Knapstein added 11 points and five rebounds while Prince collected a team-high six rebounds and four assists.

Three Greyhounds accounted for 63 of the team's 69 points with Princess German piling on 31 points and eight rebounds. Sarah Costello notched a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards while Nicole Anderson added 15.

UW-Parkside owned a 34-2 edge in bench production while enjoying a 39-31 rebounding advantage. The Rangers were held to shooting just 37.9 percent (11-for-29) in the second half while the Hounds hit 50 percent (13-for-26) of their opportunities over the final 20 minutes of play.

Jessica Prince,
Rani Singh,
Kristin Conniff,
Tara Knapstein, and
Stephanie Furr in a pregame ceremony. The 2016 senior class has made two trips to the NCAA Division II Tournament while racking up 64 wins over the past four years.

The Rangers close out the regular season on Thursday, traveling to Romeoville, Illinois to face arch-nemesis Lewis University at 5:30 p.m.
