QUINCY, Ill. (Feb. 13, 2016)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball squad saw its Saturday winning streak come to a halt against 20th-ranked Quincy University inside Pepsi Arena, falling behind early and playing from behind a majority of the contest in a 70-67 setback to close out Great Lakes Valley Conference interdivisional play. Stephanie Furr poured on a game-high 22 points as the Rangers dropped its first weekend contest since January 2.

The 20th-ranked Hawks (20-4, 11-4 GLVC) raced out of the gate, scoring 10 straight and enjoying a 12-2 edge after seven minutes of play. QU pushed its edge back up to 11 early in the second period but the visiting Rangers netted 13 of the next 14 points, sinking three treys during the stretch and taking their first lead of the contest with 4:54 left on a Kristin Conniff jumper. The Hawks retook the lead on a three on the next possession and scored six of the final eight points of the period. Enjoying a 34-28 edge at the halftime intermission.

A Taylor Stephen three pulled the Green and White within a point with 7:36 left in the third period but six straight from QU put the hosts back up seven. Furr drained a three with 10 seconds left in the third as the Rangers headed to the final period trailing just two at 45-43.

UW-Parkside tied the contest on a Conniff jumper with 9:14 left and again on a Conniff free throw with 8:39 left but six straight put the Hawks back on top and spot they would maintain the rest of the game. Quincy's lead ballooned to eight with 3:33 left but Parkside wasn't willing to go down without a fight, using a 7-1 run to pull within a point with 20 seconds left. Furr accounted for four of the team's points during the spurt, including a pair of free throws to cap the spurt. Maggie Cunningham sunk all four of her free throw tries in the final 18 seconds as QU was able to stave off the Rangers, for Parkside's first Saturday defeat since early January.
