CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Despite outscoring Northern Iowa in the second half, the Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team lost to Northern Iowa 72-57 on Sunday in an exhibition game for the Rangers in the McLeod Center.
Wisconsin-Parkside outscored the Panthers 37-32 in the second half, which included a 22-19 advantage in the third quarter and 15-13 in the fourth quarter. The Rangers shot 46.7 percent from the floor in the second half after shooting 33.3 percent in the first half.
Olivia Montague led the Rangers with 11 points. The sophomore was 4-of-5 from the floor, including making 3-of-4 shots from the three-point line to pace Wisconsin-Parkside.
Shelby Cheston added 10 points, five rebounds and four blocked shots for the Rangers, while
Brittney Fair and Carolina Rakhonen each scored seven points.
Kauri Jensen added seven points and a team-high eight rebounds for Wisconsin-Parkside.
Northern Iowa improved to 2-1 on the season with the win as the game counted as a regular season game for the Panthers. Northern Iowa was led by Madison Weekly who had 15 points. Kennedy Kirkpatrick had 14 points and Mikaela Morgan finished with 10 points.
Northern Iowa jumped out to a 21-9 lead after the first quarter and held a 40-20 advantage at halftime.
Wisconsin-Parkside will return to action on Nov. 25 when it participates in the two-day Puma Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Saint Joseph's. The Rangers will meet Ohio Valley at 1 p.m. on Nov. 25 and them meet Northern Michigan at 1 p.m. on Nov. 26.
