Wisconsin-Parkside Earns Draw with 10th-Ranked Truman State

SOMERS, Wis. -- Lauren Bialas scored a goal and Adrianna Bratel made three saves in net as Wisconsin-Parkside played to a 1-1 draw with 10th-ranked Truman State in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match on Friday at Wood Road Field.

Bialas gave the Rangers an early lead off an excellent feed from Vianey Hernandez. Hernandez dribbled to the right and fed Bialas in the middle of the box and the senior beat Truman State keeper Katie Mattingly for a 1-0 Ranger lead in the 15th minute. It marked the first goal the Bulldogs have permitted in the last six matches.

Truman State bounced back to tie the match late in the first period. Stephanie Williams dribbled between two defenders and then beat Bratel on a one-on-one situation to even the match at 1-1 in the 35th minute.

Truman State dominated the second period as it held an 8-0 advantage in shots, but could not get anything past Bratel to force overtime.

Wisconsin-Parkside had the only shot in the first overtime, and Truman State had both shots in the second overtime period.

It marked the Rangers second match against a top 10 ranked team and both times the Rangers have come away with a tie. Earlier this season, Wisconsin-Parkside tied No. 8 Minnesota State-Mankato.

Wisconsin-Parkside is 6-5-2 overall and 6-4-1 in the GLVC, while Truman State is 11-0-2 overall and 10-0-1 in conference play.

Wisconsin-Parkside returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 16) when it hosts Quincy in a GLVC match beginning at 2:30 p.m.
