(Sept. 6, 2015)-- Szymon Owczarek tallied his first collegiate goal but the University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's soccer team was unable to dig out of an early hole, falling 4-1 to 18th-ranked Saginaw Valley State University in a non-conference clash on Sunday at Wood Road Field.
 
The visiting Cardinals struck first with Oluwatobi Oyeleye scoring in the 28th minute off a corner kick from Aleksandar Isaevski. SVSU doubled its lead in the 31st minute with Isaevski scoring off a feed from Tyler Channell while Jordan Kalk struck just 38 seconds into the second stanza to give Saginaw a 3-0 lead.
 
Owczarek struck in the 65th minute off a pass from 
Jaime Colin in the 65th minute to close the gap to 3-1 but a red card just three minute later reduced Parkside to just 10 men. Saginaw jumped on the opportunity with a goal 25 seconds after the card as Oluwatobi scoring his second goal of the night by collecting a rebound off his initial shot.
 
UW-Parkside 
Nate Kitchell finished with four saves in 90 minutes of work while SVSU's Alex Bouillennec made one stop on the hot and humid afternoon.
 
The Rangers return to the pitch next Friday at 3:30 p.m., hosting Saint Joseph's College in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener.
