Men's Soccer Falls in Overtime Heartbreaker

SOMERS, Wis. (Sept. 27, 2015)-- A goal in the fourth minute of overtime was the difference-maker on Sunday afternoon as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Maryville University in a physical back-and-forth affair at Wood Road Field.
 
The Saints' (4-4-1, 2-3-1 GLVC) Landon Paul provided the contest's lone goal, finding the back of the net three minutes and 31 seconds into the sudden-death overtime session off a touch from Karlo Jingura.
 
Maryville enjoyed a 5-3 advantage in shots in the opening half while the Rangers (3-4-1, 3-2-1 GLVC) owned a 9-7 edge in shots over the final 45 minutes of regulation. The Saints ended the contest with a 13-12 edge in shots, including the lone shot taken in overtime in the physical match featuring 32 total fouls and six yellow cards.
 
UW-Parkside had 10 corner kicks on the afternoon, including nine over the course of the second half but was unable to punch through with MU keeper Christian Kjaersgaard making three saves to collect the clean sheet. Ranger keeper Remi Bibal turned away six shots in 94 minutes of action.
 
Parkside is back in action on Friday, traveling to Lebanon, Illinois to face McKendree University at 7:30 p.m.
