(Sept. 26, 2015)-- Jackie Langer piled on a season-high 24 kills helping the University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team close out the weekend on Saturday with a 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-21) victory over host Maryville University in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match inside Moloney Arena.
In the opening set, the homestanding Saints (5-7, 1-3 GLVC) owned a 19-17 edge before the Rangers (8-5, 2-2 GLVC) scored the next three points to seize the lead. The lead briefly swung back to Maryville before consecutive kills from Langer gave UW-Parkside the 25-23 set win.
The Rangers never trailed in set two, staving off a late charge from the Saints to collect the 26-24 win. UW-Parkside raced out to an early 22-15 lead but the hosts battled back, scoring eight of the next nine points to tie the score at 23. The two teams traded points before kills from
Elizabeth Mavis and
Rebecca Roembke ended the set 26-24 in favor of Parkside.
In set three a 10-3 Ranger run provided a sufficient cushion midway through the set, cruising to the 25-21 win to claim the match.
Langer was nearly unstoppable for the Rangers, posting a season-high 24 kills on 50 attacks while adding 11 digs on the defensive end. Roembke chipped in 14 kills,
Lauren Hickson tallied a match-high 49 assists and
Meghan Conley collected 25 digs.
The Rangers are return to the court on Wednesday, facing the University of Saint Francis in an exhibition match in Joliet, Illinois.
