Somers, Wis. (Mar. 22, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside softball team lost both ends of the doubleheader against fourth ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis by scores of 8-4 and 8-0, in a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup at Case Softball Complex on Sunday.

The fourth ranked Tritons (21-3, 6-2 GLVC) came out swinging against the Rangers (4-17, 0-8 GLVC).  Missouri-St. Louis opened up the first game scoring seven runs in the first four innings against starting pitcher Carly Dundee.  Amber Ramos came on in relief to start the fifth inning, and she would only give up one run the rest of the way.  Parkside mounted a comeback with a rally in the sixth inning.  Paige Harbord and Morgan Dastych started off the scoring by both hitting RBI singles with no outs on the board, and cutting the lead by two runs.  The Rangers had the bases loaded and were able to manufacture two more runs to end the inning only trailing 7-4.  In the top half of the seventh, Katie Wood hit a solo home run to left center field off Ramos, and that would be the final run, giving the Tritons an 8-4 win.

The other offensive highlight of the opening game was Kalli Gosser hitting a double as part of her two hits, she score one run, and also reached base with a walk.

It was all Missouri-St. Louis in the second game.  The Tritons scored eight runs in the contest and held the Rangers to two hits.  Hannah Perryman (10-2) picked up the complete game shutout for UMSL, and Courtney Ellingson (2-8) also pitched all five innings in the UWP loss.

The Rangers continue their home stand on Saturday and Sunday hosting GLVC doubleheaders against University of Indianapolis and St. Joseph's College.
