Game One Box ScoreGame Two Box ScoreQuincy, Ill. (Mar. 15, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside softball team lost both games of their doubleheader on Sunday to the host Quincy University in a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup 2-0 and 6-2 at the Mart Heinen Complex.

The Hawks (10-8, 2-2 GLVC) got on the board first, when leadoff batter Rachel Scrum hit a 2-1 pitch homerun off of
Courtney Ellingson. The Rangers (4-13, 0-4 GLVC) threatened in the seventh with runners on first and third, but failed to score. Ellingson pitched a complete game, giving up the second and final Quincy run in the sixth inning. Murphi Armstong pitched a seven inning shutout for the Hawks, winning 2-0.Â

The offensive highlight of the first game was
Kalli Gosser hitting two for three from the plate. Three other Ranger batters also got hits in the game.

In the nightcap, the Rangers took an early lead in the second inning.Â
Megan Holderby led the inning off by getting a walk on five pitches. Up next was
Kalli Gosser, who took the first pitch she saw over the center field fence for a two-run homerun. The Hawks answered in the bottom of the second by hitting a solo homerun off of Parkside's Ellingson, cutting the Rangers lead by one.Â
Amber Ramos came in to relieve Courtney in the fourth inning and pitched the rest of the game. The Quincy bats came alive in the fifth and sixth innings scoring 5 runs, including a two-run homerun by Kelsey Ley. The Rangers were unable to recover and fell 6-2 to the Hawks.

The Rangers return to action for their home opener on Saturday, March 21 against GLVC rival Maryville University. The first pitch of the doubleheader is set for 12 pm.
