(Mar. 14, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside softball team started off their Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule against Truman State University Saturday, losing both games in their doubleheader at Truman Softball Park. The Rangers were held to one run on the day falling to the Bulldogs 7-1 and 3-0.
Â
The Bulldogs (10-4, 2-0 GLVC) controlled the opening game against the Rangers (4-11, 0-2 GLVC) by taking an early one run lead in the second inning, and then Truman lit up the scoreboard in the third by scoring five runs on three hits and three walks.Â
Carly Dundee started the game for Parkside and takes the loss, but only faced one batter in the third before
Amber Ramos entered the game. Ramos finished the game for the Rangers and held the Bulldogs to one run the rest of the game. Kelsey Dorsey picked up her sixth win on the season for Truman, allowing 5 hits and no walks.
Â
The Rangers kept things interesting in the top of the seventh.Â
Paige Harbord and
Emily Hastings both singled and Harbord scored an unearned run on a throwing error. That was the only run the Green and White would get while stranding two runners. Harbord went three-for-three from the plate and Hastings had two singles accounting for Parkside's only hits for the opening game.
Â
In the second game, the Rangers opened the game with two singles only to leave both runners stranded. Â Truman then scored two in the first and one in the second on their way to a three run shutout.Â
Courtney Ellingson suffered the loss for Parkside pitching all 6 innings and fanning six Bulldogs and walking none. Kindra Henze pitched the complete game shutout for Turman allowing only four hits, striking out ten, and walking one. Ranger senior,
Therese Jender hit a double in the third going one for two from the plate.
Â
The Rangers finish up their road trip with a doubleheader in Illinois against GLVC rival Quincy University. The opening pitch is set for twelve o'clock.
