SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (Feb. 21, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team poured on the opening 15 points of the contest and never looked back, dismantling Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division rival University of Illinois Springfield 70-45 on Saturday afternoon inside The Recreation & Athletic Center.

Jennifer Blunt tallied the opening two buckets of the game before Kristin Conniff and Sarah Mlachnik each drained a three. Conniff canned another three during the opening spurt as the Rangers (21-5, 14-3 GLVC) seized a 15-0 lead with 14:39 left in the opening stanza. The Prairie Stars (5-20, 1-16 GLVC) countered with a 7-2 spurt to pull within 10 with 11:43 left in the first half but it was the closest host UIS would come with Parkside netting 19 of the next 23 points to establish a 25-point buffer. The Rangers continued to cruise, owning a 44-19 lead at the halftime break.

Parkside led by as many as 36 points in the second half before settling on the final 25-point margin.

Conniff led the Rangers with 18 points, hitting four shots from beyond the arc while Brittney Fair tallied 11 points off the bench. Gaby Bronson, Stephanie Furr and Maddie Johnston each had seven points while Bronson also finished with six rebounds and five assists.

UW-Parkside ended the game with a 41-30 rebounding edge and held a 28-16 edge in points in the paint.

The Rangers close out the regular season on Thursday night, welcoming Lewis University to DeSimone Gymnasium for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
